Free to attend, this 36 hour event (participants are welcome to drop in and out) is aimed at Designers, Developers, Project Managers, Experts in the Legal/Financial sectors – and anyone else with a keen interest in the cutting edge of Financial Services Technology.
Participants will be working in teams to build an app, site, solution or other product based around the central theme of ‘FinTech’, and will present their concept to a panel of expert Judges on the Sunday morning.
Matt Chatterley, one of the organisers, said: “We held our inaugural hackathon in September last year and it was a great success – so now we’re aiming for something more ambitious. FinTech is a hot topic and is an area which is currently generating a lot of interest in Jersey, so it seemed the logical choice for us.”

A contraction of the words ‘Financial’ and ‘Technology’, FinTech has become a ubiquitous term for any technology applied to financial services but recently has started to be used for broader applications of technology in the space such as Bitcoin. 2013 saw private FinTech companies raise nearly $3 billion – more than tripling the $930M invested globally in FinTech in 2008.
