The third ABN AMRO Junior Matchplay tournament of 2014 saw four budding young tennis players take to the court. The tournament took a round robin format and was timed, allowing competitors to play as many points as possible in the allocated times. The fast-paced matches produced some exciting tennis and the scores were very close with only one point separating the winner from the runner up.

This week’s winner was Byron Kerr and the runner up was Leon Hamilton.

‘It was another successful Matchplay tournament and all the children should be really proud of the improvements they have made to their games since the start of the ABN AMRO Primary School Outreach Programme,’ said Joel Camp, head coach at Les Mielles Tennis Club.

The ABN AMRO Primary School Outreach Programme is held every Spring and Summer and was set up to help encourage youngsters to take up tennis as a hobby and to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
