Our Life in Finance scheme is successfully pairing local students with our Member firms, following a Meet and Greet event held in May.
At the event, Year 12 students from Jersey’s local schools were able to meet representatives from over 30 of our Member firms, to discuss what a placement with them would entail and more broadly give students first-hand interview experience. Our Member firms had the opportunity to introduce the students to their company and to what a career in the Island’s thriving finance industry might entail.
With Jersey Finance undertaking a matching process after the event, we’re delighted that all of the students who attended the event have now been successfully paired with a Member firm and are arranging their one to two-week work placements with them during the summer months.
Launched in 2013, Life in Finance gives young Islanders the opportunity to learn more about the different roles available and the benefits of working in our industry, as well as giving the many finance firms offering placements some real food for thought about the value our Island’s young people can add to the industry. Those taking part clearly embrace the creativity and enthusiasm young people can offer, which is absolutely vital to the Island’s future prosperity. It means that young people can look to the future with more certainty around their career options and that employers can focus on the talent that is available locally.
