There are limited spaces available for Rossborough Healthcare’s Free Health Check which takes place on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd June at the Radisson Blu hotel. Islanders are invited to sign up at www.RossboroughHealthCheck.com.

The event, now in its second year, has increased in capacity due to its popularity and will focus on heart disease and diabetes – two major issues affecting islanders’ health.

Event organiser Richard Clarke of Rossborough Healthcare said, ‘We are pleased that we have been able to increase the Free Health Check event to two days after we reached maximum capacity in a very short space of time in 2014. This year’s event has again proven extremely popular and there are limited spaces remaining, so I would encourage islanders to sign up soon to avoid disappointment.

‘The early detection of underlying health issues is something we at Rossborough Healthcare feel passionate about, so along with our medical partners, sponsors and charities we are delighted to offer nearly 400 islanders access to a comprehensive range of tests and specialist advice,’ he added.

This year’s event, which coincides with the Arrhythmia Alliance Heart Rhythm Week (1 – 5th June), has greater access to more detailed tests to help with the detection and prevention of diabetes and heart conditions in particular and is open to all islanders. Experienced, qualified medical professionals from Health Plus and Lister Surgeries will be able to give immediate feedback on test results in a professional and confidential environment.

Rossborough Healthcare has teamed up with Jersey’s Consultant Cardiologist, Dr Andrew Mitchell, and his specialist cardiology team at Jersey General Hospital to provide a full and comprehensive range of tests, together with some innovative new heart screening technology.   Dr Mitchell said, ‘Jersey has been leading the way with Digital Health innovation and at this year's event our heart team will be offering participants the chance to see some exciting new digital health technologies that are not yet available in the UK.’

The free event will include a number of testing stations including cardiac, respiratory, spirometry, electrocardiography and diabetes (all carried out by the appropriately qualified specialist health professionals). Exciting new heart screening technology from Clasado Biosciences and Cardiocity will also be on display.

The event is being sponsored by AXA-PPP International, Aetna, Simplyhealth and Denplan, some of the island’s most established providers of private medical and dental insurance policies. Representatives from local charities Diabetes Jersey, Jersey Heart Support Group, British Heart Foundation (Jersey) and Jersey Asthma and Respiratory Society will also be on hand to offer advice and support. In addition, representatives from Wellbeing World will support the event with lifestyle and nutritional advice to those in attendance.

Individuals wishing to attend the event must complete a simple pre-registration on the Rossborough Healthcare event website. Registrations will be taken in 15 minute blocks and individuals can expect to take no more than one hour to go through all tests / GP review. Time slots will be available 08.00 – 12.45 and 13.45 – 18.15 on Tuesday 2nd, and 07.00 – 12.45 and 13.45 – 17.15 on Wednesday 3rd.

Islanders will be able to book multiple slots for family members, but event organisers do require one registration per individual. Regrettably, the event will not be open to anyone under the age of 18 and the event organisers have respectfully asked that anyone currently under the care of Jersey’s heart team does not attend the event.

To provide an accurate consultation, attendees will be asked to fill in a basic health questionnaire during pre-registration to bring along to their designated appointments.   To pre-register and to find out more information, please visit: www.RossboroughHealthCheck.com
