Hosted by local music group, the Jersey Premier Brass Band, and sponsored by Hawksford, the concert was organised to raise money to help fund the band’s trip to compete in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in London next year. The total donated at the event was £320, which will go towards the band’s travel and accommodation costs.
The concert featured a Symphonic Suite from Disney’s Frozen as well as a number of well-known classical works such as Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Wagner’s Procession to the Minster.
Band member and Hawksford employee, Emilie Langlands, commented:
‘On behalf of the band I would like to say a huge thank you to Hawksford for supporting our event. With their help, and the support of those who attended, we are much closer to our fundraising target and we can now start looking forward to representing Jersey, and hopefully going far, in the competition next March. The turnout was fantastic, with lots of new faces and some great feedback. Victory (Lord of the Dance) and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture both went down extremely well and, of course, Frozen was a big hit with the younger members of the audience!’
‘We actively encourage our employees to get involved in our CSR initiatives by inviting them to submit charities, clubs and organisations for consideration. We are really pleased that Emilie’s concert was such a great success. Hopefully the money raised will help them to fulfil their goal of representing Jersey on the national stage at next year’s brass band championships,’ added Maxine Rawlins, chief executive officer at Hawksford.
