Providing support for those with mental health issues, Mind Jersey has been had a footprint on the island for over 40 years. The charity has a vision of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all and treats people with experience of mental illness, fairly, positively and with respect.

The charity offers a range of services, including support to those suffering from mental illness, as well as their carers, families and friends. Changing public attitudes to mental health, through the provision of improved information and training, are top priorities in Mind Jersey’s current campaign to reduce stigma and misunderstanding.

James Le Feuvre from Mind Jersey said: ‘We are hugely grateful to RBC for such a sizeable sum of money, especially as the significance of mental health issues is becoming increasingly acknowledged. We believe that promoting good mental health is just as important as promoting good physical health and this additional funding will be invaluable in supporting our work.’

Andrena Ball, Sports & Social Charity of the Year Coordinator at RBC Wealth Management said: ‘Diverse’ would be the word I would use to describe how we have raised funds last year for Mind Jersey. This has included staff and families completing a 5 km sponsored summer walk and our annual Christmas Raffle which included a very popular prize of an extra day’s holiday for this year!’

‘However, our biggest fundraiser was the range of events we staged around World Mental Health Day back in October. We did all sorts of things such as a triathlon, bake off, speed quiz and a very competitive ping pong challenge. Of course there was a serious element to all these activities and we were thrilled when, by the end of the year, it was announced we had raised a total of £52,700 for Mind Jersey. This will really bolster the incredible services they offer to many islanders living with mental health issues, as well as those who support them in the community.’

For 2016, RBC has nominated Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey, an organisation that offers information, emotional support and practical advice to anyone affected by cancer.
