Partner Jonathan Walker and Associate Jon Woolrich of Mourant Ozannes' Jersey office have advised Standard Chartered PLC on a rights issue to raise approximately £3.3bn (net of expenses).

The rights issue involved a Jersey cash box structure.

The purpose of the rights issue, which was first announced on 13 October 2010, was to enable the Standard Chartered group to seize the growth opportunities presented in the markets in which it operates, whilst being prepared for the higher capital requirements, which the board believes are likely to be implemented for banks.

Slaughter and May acted as English and Hong Kong Counsel to Standard Chartered PLC.
