Deloitte has announced the appointment of a new partner in its Jersey office.

Martin Rowley has joined Deloitte LLP’s Channel Islands practice as the leader of the Jersey tax team. With 25 years of international tax experience – 20 of them in legal practice – Martin joined Deloitte in 2012. He is currently a Tax Partner in Deloitte’s US Business Tax Group in London and advises on corporate and international tax matters for clients in a wide range of industries.

Martin regularly acts for private equity houses, real estate funds and sovereign financial institutions in the structuring and execution of their investments, joint ventures and other M&A activities, as well as assisting fund managers in the structuring of their portfolio investments, financings and divestments. Martin will maintain his existing London and cross-border client relationships and ongoing responsibilities in the US Business Tax Group.

As well as his considerable experience in working with clients offshore and in Europe, China, India, the Middle East and North Africa, Martin’s close links to Deloitte’s UK tax team will also benefit his clients. Jo Huxtable, Channel Islands tax partner, said:  ‘Martin is originally from Jersey and is excited to bring his outstanding tax credentials in private equity and fund management to our clients in the Jersey market. I am confident he is going to make a significant impact on the market as well as providing excellent support and guidance for Katy Wintle and our Jersey tax team.’

John Clacy, Head of Deloitte’s Channel Islands practice, commented: ‘At a time when our audit, tax and advisory practices are growing and innovating, it is fantastic to welcome someone with Martin’s expertise, energy and credentials to join our local leadership team.’
