A team of female lawyers from Ogier's Jersey Litigation Group have joined together with two local charities, Brighter Futures and Jersey Women's Refuge, to help provide a foundation of professional work wear and support for women who are returning to work.  In today's ever changing working environment a number of local Jersey women are experiencing profound difficulties in trying to return to work after a period of absence, be it for family or personal reasons or due to the economic climate. To assist the women on their journey to work, the team at Ogier are holding a 'Glamour & Goodness' event on 21 November 2013 which will see a large number of Ogier's Jersey based female clients donate clothing to the two local charities, who will then distribute the clothing to the local women who are seeking assistance in their return to work. The event is also being held to help promote local Jersey businesses which have been set up and are run by women.  Ogier is providing over 30 businesses with a platform at the event to sell their products and market their services. These businesses cover a variety of products including jewellery, art, florists, textiles, sculpture, glass, furniture, antiques, handbags, food and household products. The Glamour & Goodness event is the first of its kind at Ogier House but the organisers hope that it will become an annual initiative.  Nicola Roberts, Managing Associate at Ogier, is thrilled at the level of interest shown by her clients.  "We have been overwhelmed by the response we've received so far.  Our clients are excited that they can help in such a simple way, and they are keen to become involved.  The event should make a real difference to local women who desperately need assistance in this area of their lives.  In addition to the clothing element, many of Ogier's female lawyers will be offering assistance and support on a voluntary basis at Ogier House to help the local women with their career development, in preparing their CVs and practising interview technique".Joy O'Gorman, Facilitator at Brighter Futures, is delighted to be involved in the project.   "This is a fantastic initiative which will really make a difference to our women.  The scheme will help give women the confidence to excel at interview stage without the worry and financial burden of finding a new outfit."If you are a lady returning to work and would like to find out how this scheme could be beneficial to you, please contact the Jersey Women's Refuge on 01534 768368 or Brighter Futures on 01534 449152.  Alternatively if you would like to donate your clothing to the charities, please contact Nicola Roberts at Ogier on 01534 504313.
