Le Squez Youth Club has a fresh new look thanks to a little help from RBC Wealth Management. A group of staff from the company’s Offshore Securities Services department teamed up with Club members to redecorate their coffee bar within the youth club (Drop-In Centre). As a reward for their efforts RBC also made a donation of 1,000 Canadian Dollars to the Club.

Jane Donald, Senior Youth Worker at Le Squez Youth Project, believes the weekend’s work has made a big difference.

‘The coffee bar area looks really bright and has made the club feel fresh as it was looking a bit tired before! The young people are really pleased with the change and it was great to have some of our young people painting alongside workers from RBC.’

Shannon, a 13 year old who attends the Club was excited by the results.

‘The Club looks completely different…it feels all new, I love it!’

The cash award was donated by RBC as part of its “Day of Service” initiative which aims to encourage staff to use some of their free time for volunteering in the community.

‘We thought it was a fantastic opportunity to come together as a team and make a difference on a local project,’ explains Patrick McKeown Head of Offshore Securities Services for RBC Wealth Management.

‘We had great fun on the day and we’re really pleased the young people like their new look centre.’

The Youth Club plays an important role in the community at Le Squez and offers informal education on health, relationships, alcohol and drugs as well as providing access to computers, the internet and the sports hall for young people in the area.
