A new exhibition is being launched today (18th April) in Jersey Airport’s Departure Lounge to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jersey’s modern finance industry.
Sponsored by Mourant Ozannes, the exhibition will be at the airport over the Easter and May bank holidays, until the 18th May, and will then travel to different events and locations throughout the year. These include Jersey Tourism, Jersey General Hospital, Social Security and Careers Jersey, the ‘50 Years Golden Gala’ in September, Jersey Museum and some of the Island’s secondary schools. Details of dates and venues will be featured at www.jerseyfinance.je/50.
The exhibition charts how the finance industry has developed over the last 50 years, from the evolving physical landscape of St Helier to the key influential characters who have shaped how the finance industry looks and operates today.
To find and collate the imagery Jersey Finance has worked in partnership with the Jersey Evening Post, who have supplied nearly all of the pictures which feature in the display.
Geoff Cook, CEO of Jersey Finance, commented:
“2011 marks the 50th anniversary of the origins of Jersey’s finance industry. Since then, Jersey has grown and evolved to become one of the world’s leading international finance centres, with a strong reputation for expertise, regulation and transparency. This is something Jersey should be extremely proud of.”
Jonathan Rigby, Managing Partner at Mourant Ozannes added:
"Mourant Ozannes has been heavily involved in shaping Jersey's finance industry throughout the last 50 years and we are extremely proud of the Island's reputation as a leading international finance centre. The Photography Exhibition celebrating Jersey's financial heritage is an excellent idea and we are delighted to support it."
