The National Trust for Jersey is delighted to announce the dates for the 2010 National Trust for Jersey Sunset Concerts, in association with Ashburton. On Friday 2nd July, genuine Jersey fusion (from blues to country, folk to jazz) is on the programme from Kevin Pallot and the Pinnacles and on Saturday 3rd July, Wonderbrass will be joined by Concordia with a packed concert programme featuring musical numbers from stage and screen.

Now in their 8th year, the Sunset Concerts are enjoyed annually by more than 1500 music lovers, in the fabulous natural amphitheatre setting of Grantez in St Ouen. This year the concerts will celebrate the musical excellence that can be found within the Island. Free to attend, the Sunset Concerts provide the perfect excuse to pack a picnic and a bottle of wine, head to the beautiful Grantez headland and soak up the excellent music whilst the sun sets.

“These concerts are fantastic, free and ultimately a lot of fun and we simply wouldn’t be able to stage them without the considerable help and support of our sponsors Ashburton,” explains National Trust for Jersey Chief Executive Charles Alluto. “To enjoy beautiful, home grown musical talent in the setting of one of our lesser known sites is the perfect combination, and it is a delight to see so many residents and visitors soaking up the events each year. We look forward once again to bringing the beauty of Grantez to life this summer.”

“We enjoy a great relationship with the National Trust for Jersey and this is just one of the ways Ashburton supports the work of the Trust” explains Ashburton Managing Director Peter Bourne. “These open-air events are a great way for all the family to relax and enjoy Jersey’s stunning scenery, whilst showcasing the excellent work undertaken by the Trust to preserve our environment for future generations.”

The concerts start at 7.15pm but attendees are advised to get there early, from 6pm, as they can be extremely popular. Parking is available on site, allowing visitors to carry their picnics, blankets and refreshments to their preferred spot within the amphitheatre. The last note of the concert will sound, and the evening conclude, at 9.16pm as the sun dips into the sea!
