ABN AMRO signed a four-year sponsorship deal with the Dutch National Cricket Team last year and in support of this, ABN AMRO Jersey has provided the funding for the clinic and some of the funding for the visit to Jersey.

Commenting on the initiative, Phil Harvey, Head of Intermediary Banking at ABN AMRO Jersey, stated: ‘We are proud of ABN AMRO’s involvement with this year’s Jersey cricket clinic. It was a fantastic opportunity for the youngsters to receive top quality international coaching, which will hopefully contribute to the long-term growth and success of cricket in the Channel Islands.’

Chris Minty, of the Jersey Cricket Board, has also praised the initiative: ‘With the help of ABN AMRO we can raise the level of enthusiasm for cricket in the Channel Islands. The arrival of the Dutch Youth Cricket squad has given the kids a fantastic opportunity to develop their cricket skills.’

The Dutch Youth Cricket Team is visiting the Channel Islands as part of preparations for the U19 World Cup Qualifying Tournament, which is taking place between the 2nd and 8th August in the Netherlands. The Jersey National Team is also preparing for the same event and will be playing the Dutch side in a series of warm-up matches to aid staff and player preparations before travelling to Holland for the World Cup Qualifiers.
