The primary schools outreach programme, which gives local children free tennis lessons for 10 weeks of the year, will be entering its 11th year and start on 15th April.

TMF Group, which announced their sponsorship with LMTC in January this year, will support the programme and help with funding the club's growing junior schemes.

Jamie Darwin from TMF Group said “we are very pleased to have the opportunity to support a programme such as this which gives local children the opportunity to try a new sport.”

The scheme is aimed at introducing the sport to youngsters and improving their tennis technique in a fun environment. The sessions will be available to three local primary schools, Mont Nicolle, La Moye, and St Peter, with more than 200 children from 7 school classes taking part.

This year, for the first time, Mont Nicolle School will come to the club and experience tennis in a club environment on the courts.

‘TMF Group sponsorship has enabled us to carry on giving free tennis lessons, allowing us to introduce a sport to many youngsters who may not otherwise have had opportunity to try it out. The great thing is that many of these youngsters then choose to continue with tennis once the 10-week programme is finished.’ said Joel Camp, Head Coach, who manages the primary school outreach programme.

The funding provided by TMF Group will be split between the primary school outreach programme and the junior matchplay programme. The junior matchplay tournaments run between April and December. The programme is aimed at spotting talented youngsters and nurturing them by developing the skills required to compete in local and national competitions.
