Over 60 staff from RBC Wealth Management will be helping Cancer Research UK fight the battle against cancer at this year’s Relay For Life. Three teams, including staff, friends and family members, will be supported through the 24 hour challenge by colleagues and their employer in a bid to raise as much money as possible.

Keen to keep up team motivation, RBC is hosting a marquee, lunch, evening meal and a continental breakfast the following morning. Colleagues will also be on hand to lend their support. Team captains Lisa Châtel, Elizabeth Burt and Paula Griffiths, who all took part last year, will be leading their teams into battle. 'We’re really looking forward to the challenge,' said Miss Châtel. 'We’ll be in fancy dress again and our chosen theme is combat; combating cancer.'

Keith Pearse, Head of HR for the international division of RBC Wealth Management commented 'I’m very proud of our staff. They‘re always willing to give up time for good causes and the least we can do is support them. I am particularly delighted we’re entering nearly 50% more walkers this year. Walking for 24 hours requires a real team effort and – to play on a theme – I salute them!'

Relay For Life began in 1985 in America with Dr Gordy Klatt, a surgeon wanting to make a difference. He walked around a track for 24 hours to raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer. The following year he recruited 19 teams to join him, and Relay For Life was born. Relay For Life now takes place in more than 20 countries and is the largest fundraising event in the world. – (ends) –
