South Africa has been revealed as the exciting destination for the next Bedell Group Challenge in aid of Jersey Hospice Care.
The Challenge – the sixth of its kind – will see up to 100 islanders spending two weeks in South Africa in November 2011, either trekking or cycling through incredible countryside, to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
Jersey Hospice Care’s Chief Executive, Steve Harvey, said: “The Bedell Group Challenges are one of the biggest and most successful events in Jersey Hospice Care’s fundraising calendar with Challengers raising more for us each time, as means and ways to raise funds get more and more innovative. To date, locations have included Mexico, Vietnam, Peru and Ecuador in 2009 which raised an impressive £310,310.”
Although the trekkers and the cyclists will be taking different routes through the country, both groups will meet in Cape Town for a celebratory meal at their end of their epic adventure.
The Challenge takes place every two years and is once again kindly sponsored by Bedell Group. Lesley Piner, Bedell Group’s Head of Group Business Development said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Bedell Group Challenge once again. The event becomes a bigger community event each year and is an effective and fun way of raising awareness of the services that Jersey Hospice Care provides for islanders, as well as much needed funds.”
Anyone interested in hearing more about the trek or the cycle is invited to the Pomme D’Or Hotel on Monday 15 November for a presentation and Q&A from the UK organisers. Alternatively, people can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 510349 for more information. As the trip proves very popular and places are limited, the charity would urge people to sign up as quickly as possible.
