Standard Bank Jersey has received industry recognition in the 2011 Citywire Wealth Manager Performance Awards as one of the top performers in the ‘Best Small Firm’ category.
Standard Bank was one of 65 firms that entered the awards and one of four shortlisted in this category which judged those firms with assets under management of less than £1.5bn. The Awards focus entirely on quantitative performance and recognise only the most skilled investors in the discretionary investment manager community. Each nominated company was judged on its three year risk-adjusted performance from July 2008 to June 2011.
Haydn Taylor, Head of Institutional Clients at Standard Bank, said: “These awards are highly regarded in the discretionary investment manager sector and we are thrilled to be shortlisted amongst some very established names in the industry. This recognition is testament to the expertise within our Asset Management team who have autonomy in investment decision making which is carried out here in Jersey.
“Our asset allocation policy is driven by Tony Wood, the Head of Investment Strategy, who chairs a small focused committee made up of four other product specialists, Andy McGuigan, David Jardine, Karl Holden and David Gorman. This enables decisions to be made swiftly if required, although asset allocation changes are generally strategic, with more frequent tactical adjustments made within the underlying asset classes.
He added: “We are very pleased that the strategies for which we have been recognised are particularly appropriate to the Trustee community in the island. We manage a significant number of portfolios for a large number of locally based Trust Companies and Private Trusts in addition to a thriving number of Private Clients, both local and internationally based developed by a longstanding team with a 20 year history.”
Standard Bank was also shortlisted in the 2010 Citywire awards in the Balanced Portfolio, Cautious Portfolio and Best Small Firm categories. Citywire Wealth Manager Performance Awards are run in conjunction with Asset Risk Consultants.
This accolade follows Standard Bank also being named in June 2011 as ‘Best International Bank’ in the annual International Fund and Product Awards, organised by leading industry publication Professional Advisor. Ends
