$2.5 million has been allocated to 30 local charities in 16 markets across the region, with $300,000 of that set aside for employees to nominate worthy causes at the forefront of the relief efforts to receive a share across Europe and America.

This approach has enabled the Bank to get money out quickly where it is needed most in the countries we operate in.

In Jersey, the Bank has donated around £45,000 to fund two disinfectors to clean public areas, Beresford Street Kitchen and the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation. Additionally, 360 masks have been donated to Jersey General hospital for use by Intensive Care Unit teams and hospital medical staff.

The two disinfectors are part of a joint community effort between the local Standard Chartered Bank Jersey Branch, Government of Jersey, J.C.F Cleaning & Allied Services and Motor Mall. The programme began early in early May, following the successful installation of equipment and training.
Henry Baye, CEO, Jersey, Standard Chartered Bank, says: “We are committed to supporting not only our clients, but also the communities within which we live. It is at the heart of our promise to be Here for Good.  We are very proud to make this donation and play our part in the fight against coronavirus; we’re all in this together.”

Commenting on the donation, Allan Wood, Chairman of the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation, said: “Just over one month ago the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation broadened its objectives to not only assist families of sick children receiving treatment in the UK, but also to support families of sick children in Jersey who are experiencing hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis. Since we made this decision we have supported five Jersey families through this difficult period. The foundation can’t thank Standard Chartered enough for their very generous donation that will help the most vulnerable families within our community.”
