In Hong Kong on 24 November 2011 a double taxation agreement between Hong Kong China and Jersey was negotiated by the Hong Kong and Jersey delegations. The delegations undertook to refer the initialled draft text to their respective governments to seek approval for the agreement to be signed.
The Jersey delegation was led by Colin Powell, Adviser – International Affairs, Chief Minister’s Department, who was accompanied by Wendy Martin, Director of Tax Policy, Treasury and Resources Department.
Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, said: “The completion of the negotiation of this double taxation agreement is an important step in the further development of the business relations that already exist between the two jurisdictions.
“The negotiations were conducted in a friendly, cooperative and constructive atmosphere of mutual understanding, and it is hoped that the formal signing of the agreement can be arranged at an early date.”
