Father Christmas has been lent a helping hand with the delivery of stockings at the Special Care Baby Unit.

The stockings, filled with a teddy, rattle set and sleep suit, have been bought for each baby in intensive care over the Christmas period thanks to money raised by staff at RBC Wealth Management as a result of their December dress down day.

The £600 raised has also been used to buy development aids for the babies and development dolls, which are used to teach key skills to new parents.

Sandra Hardie, a Neonatal Nurse from the Special Care Baby Unit, said that Christmas was a particularly difficult time for parents whose babies needed specialist help. ‘Each donation we receive is important to us. In this case it means that we can provide something extra for the babies and the parents who will be with us over Christmas. We would like to say a big thank you to the staff at RBC Wealth Management who have helped us bring a bit of Christmas to the unit.’

RBC Wealth Management’s Social Events Coordinator Lisa Journeaux said that the company’s last dress down donation of 2010 was a great opportunity to play Father Christmas. ‘We are pleased to have been able to provide a small treat for those using the unit over Christmas and to provide some longer term developmental aids,’ she said.
