Sponsored by RBC Wealth Management for the 10th year, the Swimarathon took place at Les Quennevais 9-13 March and saw almost 4,000 people take part in Jersey’s longest running fundraising event.

Lion Ian Barette, president of the Lions Club of Jersey, said: ‘We are always in awe at the amount of support the Swimarathon receives and once again Islanders have really got behind the event; through either donating or turning up and taking part in the five day annual event. We’re thrilled that such a significant sum of money raised, boosted by RBC Wealth Management’s lap donation, will be going to help such wonderful local charities.’

Chris Blampied, Head of Banking, RBC Wealth Management said: 'We are absolutely delighted that in our 10th year of sponsoring the Swimarathon that such a fantastic sum has been raised. As one of the thousands of islanders who takes part, I know what an enjoyable and worthwhile event it is and by getting involved, we are all making a substantial contribution to the local community. Well done to everyone who dug deep to support the swimmers and to the Lions Club of Jersey who do an incredible job each year in organising this remarkable event.'

Half of the funds raised from this year’s event will go to ten local charities who support Islanders living with mental health issues or changes brought about by a brain related accident or illness and the other 50 percent will be devoted to providing local people nominated by these charities with free respite holidays and other Lions’ Club community service activities.
