Deloitte has in the fourth quarter of 2019 further bolstered its Channel Islands tax practice with the recent appointment of Rupert Lee as a Senior Tax Manager, based in the firm’s Jersey office.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Mr Lee spent two years working for a financial services mergers and acquisition tax practice in London where he undertook tax due diligence and advisory engagements for financial services and private equity clients.

Mr Lee also spent six years working in Jersey, undertaking corporate tax compliance and advisory engagements for a variety of banking and trust company clients.

His primary area of responsibility will be to oversee Deloitte’s growing Jersey corporate tax advisory and compliance engagements, including helping clients to comply with the new economic substance legislation.

Mr Lee’s appointment recognises the significant and sustained opportunities for growth in the Channel Islands tax practice, responding to global trends that include increased corporate, social and tax responsibilities and transparency.

It follows Deloitte Jersey’s hiring of Harry Lawson as a Senior Tax Manager earlier in the year and three recent appointments to the Guernsey tax team. Tax Manager Alison Hill and Assistant Manager Monique De Abreu have recently joined the firm, whilst Marielle Fritsch moved from Deloitte’s audit department into the tax team as a Manager.

Martin Rowley, Tax Partner in Jersey, said of recent recruitment: ‘Deloitte’s Channel Islands tax practice continues to grow in both size and strength, and the further recent additions to our teams in both Jersey and Guernsey reflect the increased demand for our services both locally and across multiple jurisdictions with which we work closely on a daily basis providing fully integrated tax services to Deloitte’s clients.’
