Members of The Inclusion Project, which supports local 11 – 25 year olds with special needs, ended their summer programme in style with an exciting day out at Durrell. The programme was made possible this year by the kind sponsorship of Voisin law firm and Volaw trust company.

The day out included visiting the young members’ favourite animal enclosures, attending a talk about reptiles and a lecture on bats and their habitat. The day finished with a picnic on the Les Noyers lawn joined by staff members form Voisin and Volaw.

The Summer Programme combines activities that are important to the development of young people with special needs. The initiative has been specifically designed by The Inclusion Project staff members to improve social skills and help nurture new skills.
This year the members enjoyed a mixture of activities such as a visit to Creepy Valley, an Archery course, a trip to Gorey Castle for a falconry display, a birthday BBQ and a bowling trip. Voisin and Volaw have given both their time and financial support this year to ensure the project was a success.

The Inclusion Project is part of the Jersey Youth Service. The team runs four youth clubs a week around the Island and a number of exceptional programmes designed to enable development and offer parents valuable respite.

Leana D’Orleans, Assistant Youth Worker, The Inclusion Project, commented:
‘The Durrell visit was an interesting day out for all of the young members and something they had been looking forward to. The talk in The Reptile House was a highlight of the trip. We are very grateful to Voisin and Volaw for their continued sponsorship of our activities, they play an important role in improving the development of our members.’

Georgina Jeffries, Head of Marketing, Voisin law firm and Volaw trust company, added: ‘We are really pleased the members enjoyed their day at Durrell. We are very proud to be involved with The Inclusion Project and always look forward taking part in the activities with the group. Both companies will continue to support the group throughout 2013.’
