As the first female president to be elected by members of the Law Society since it was established in 1899, Rose said:

“I am delighted to have been elected as the first female President of the legal profession in Jersey. This is a very proud moment for me personally. I hope that my appointment acts as encouragement to all other women and shows that they can reach the highest levels in the profession. When I was sworn in as an English Solicitor in London back in 1980 there were very few women in the profession and even less managed to break the glass ceiling. I am therefore very thankful for all the opportunities, that I have been given in all the years since, that have enabled me to now serve the profession in Jersey as their President for the next two years.”

Rose Colley has been a Partner in Viberts since 2000 and heads the Family Law team where she has established an enviable reputation for success for her clients and is widely regarded as the pre-eminent lawyer on family matters in Jersey. She was sworn in as an English Solicitor in 1980 and as a Jersey Advocate in 2000.
