Foundations News Flash Vivat Trust & Corporate Services is one of the first Jersey firms to be licensed to offer foundations. The Foundations (Jersey) Law 2009 came into effect on Friday 17 July and makes Jersey the only jurisdiction on the OECD ‘white list’ to offer foundations as a vehicle for wealth management and estate planning.
Mike Price, head of operations at Vivat Trust, said today: ‘We have a great deal of knowledge about the potential advantages of the Jersey Foundation and have been working for several months in anticipation of the new law coming into effect. We are delighted to have obtained a licence from the Jersey Financial Services Commission so promptly – on the same day the Law came into effect – so that we can now work with clients who are interested in establishing a foundation, either in an entirely new initiative, or in transferring from existing structures. We believe this is a very exciting new development and will complement our other financial services products.’
Members of the Vivat team leading the work on foundations are Darry Robinson, Vivat’s legal director, and Janice Callander, assistant trust and foundations manager. They will be supported, as ever, by Advocate Christopher Scholefield, director of the firm and an acknowledged expert on trust, company and foundations law.
