Thanks to sponsorship by Voisin, two internationally acclaimed pianists will visit Jersey to work with young local musicians during the Jersey Academy of Music’s project week which will take place in July 2013.

Known as the ‘Burrows-Woo Duo’, Aaron Burrows and JungSun Woo, will be busy during the project week passing on their expertise and inspiring young musicians. This initiative includes a variety of activities such as piano lessons with the Jersey Academy of Music members and a musical performance for the Island’s primary schools and The Inclusion Project members. The week will culminate in a unique 'Multi-Piano Extravaganza’ which will see the duo play with two other pianists at the same time in a public concert at Chateau Vermont on Thursday 11 July.

Aaron is well known locally as he grew up in Jersey, winning numerous piano competitions before commencing his professional studies. He has performed concerti with both the Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the Jersey Chamber Orchestra, and is the orchestral pianist for the University of London Symphony Orchestra.

JungSun is a hugely talented pianist. She was born in South Korea and started her pianist career at the tender age of three. As a soloist and a chamber musician she has performed in some of the UK’s leading venues, including St Martin in the Fields, the Purcell Room, the Wigmore Hall and the West Road Concert Hall. In 2008 she was awarded a scholarship under the Government Music and Dance Scheme to study at the Purcell School of Music.

Voisin’s Head of Marketing Georgina Jeffries commented: “Voisin are very proud to be involved with the Jersey Academy of Music’s project week and I am sure the Multi-Piano Extravaganza at Chateau Vermont will be a concert to remember. We are pleased that Aaron and JungSun will be performing not only for local schools but also for The Inclusion Project, an initiative for young people with learning difficulties that we are supporting this year.”

Director of the Jersey Academy of Music Chris George, himself an accomplished pianist who will be playing with the Duo during the Multi-Piano Extravaganza, added: “We are hugely thankful to Voisin for their kind sponsorship. Without the firm’s support we wouldn’t be able to attract international musicians of this calibre to the Island. There is a large pool of talent in Jersey, and I hope both Aaron and JungSun will prove to be an inspiration to our local musicians.”
