The highlight at Mont à l'Abbé School’s end-of-year prize-giving was the award of the two Friendship Cups to the students who exemplified the learning ethos of the School.
All 80 students from the Primary and Secondary schools attended the celebrations on Friday 20th July. The Voisin and Volaw Friendship Cups were presented to Jessica Vieira (Primary School) and Bronte Hollick (Secondary School). The two runners-up were Jack Whittingham (Primary School) and William de Freitas (Secondary School).
At the end of each academic year the two Friendship Cups are awarded to the children who have promoted the school’s ethos of friendship, consideration for others and general contribution to cheerfulness within the learning environment. The two winners have a cup to take home for the year and their names will be engraved on a plaque in the entrance hall of both schools.
Voisin and Volaw have been loyal supporters of Mont à l'Abbé School for the last five years and this year the Friendship cups were presented by Julie Smith, Compliance Officer in Volaw. Their support includes organising initiatives and activities with the children such as gardening, music events, themed learning days and cookery classes with Bohemia celebrity chef Shaun Rankin.
Sharon Eddie, Head teacher, Mont à l'Abbé School, commented:
‘Prize giving is a great time for the students as each child participates in the event as we recognize their achievements throughout the year, but the award of the Friendship Cups is the highlight of the day. We are very grateful to Voisin and Volaw for their sustained sponsorship and the support they have provided over the years.’
Julie Smith, Compliance Officer, Volaw trust company, added:
‘It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion, and all the children were so happy to have their efforts recognised. In the five years Voisin and Volaw have been supporting Mont à l'Abbé School we have got to know many of the children and have seem them progress in their school careers. We especially wish those who are leaving the school the best luck for the future. All of our staff are looking forward to next year’s initiatives and activities with the school.’
