(St Helier, Jersey – January 15 2015) – Leading international financial law firm Walkers is pleased to announce the appointment of Advocate Damian Evans as a partner, as part of a significant expansion for the firm's Jersey office.

Mr. Evans will head up Walkers' Trust Disputes team in Jersey, having joined from Mourant Ozannes, where he practised for 12 years in the Litigation and International Trust & Private Client groups.

Damian specialises in contentious and non-contentious trust disputes and regularly advises trustees on all matters of Jersey trust law. He appears before the Royal Court of Jersey on a regular basis and is a Recommended Lawyer in the 2014 Legal 500 directory.

"I am delighted to be joining such a renowned and leading offshore law firm," Mr. Evans said. "I have been greatly impressed by the exceptional capabilities of the contentious trusts team here, which I am excited to join and build further."

Alongside Mr. Evans' appointment, Mark Crichton and Niall MacDonald – two lawyers in Walkers' Jersey office – have both been admitted as advocates, after successfully passing the Jersey Advocacy exams. Mr. Crichton is an associate with nine years' post qualification experience as a solicitor of England and Wales and specialises in corporate, commercial, banking and security work, as well as investment funds. Mr. MacDonald is an associate in the firm's Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group and originally qualified in Scotland. Mr MacDonald has been with Walkers since 2009.

With a number of additional new legal professionals also joining Walkers recently, the firm has seen considerable growth in Jersey.  Allison Carter has joined the Commercial Disputes and Litigation Group as an associate, while Karen Butt and Rebecca Gueno have both joined the department as legal assistants. Later this month the firm will welcome Piotr Kobus as Listings Manager in the Finance & Corporate Group, while paralegal Isobel Murray will relocate to Jersey from Walkers' Cayman Islands office, to provide assistance on the private trusts side.

"This is a crucial point in the economic cycle and the growth of our business in Jersey," said Jonathan Heaney, Head of Walkers' Jersey office. "It is essential that we have the right professionals in place, with the right expertise and experience to service our global client base and increasing demand. We also expect to announce further additions to the Finance & Corporate Group shortly. I'm delighted to welcome Damian and all of our other new starts to the team."
