As part of our ongoing campaign to encourage you to find out more about careers in finance, we are launching our student newsletter titled ‘A Taste of Finance’.
It’s the Government of Jersey’s ambition to see more Islanders access rewarding jobs by 2037; encouraging home-grown talent to build successful careers in Jersey and attracting people with essential skills to help businesses develop.
At Jersey Finance, we believe we can contribute to this future target by working with young people like you, through our education initiatives and encourage you to discard the cliché that a job in finance is boring.
So with the aim of promoting a bright future in finance for young islanders, we wanted to create a newsletter that highlights key information about education events and initiatives in Jersey, the different roles available to you as well as relevant news about the industry and top tips on how to progress from your studies to securing a job.
As the first point of contact with an employer, your CV needs to make a good impression. Using Skills Jersey guidelines on what to include, you will be able to create a document that showcases your skills and experience in order to get you to the interview stage. Skills Jersey also work with students by reviewing and proofing your CV, please contact Skills Jersey for more information.
Tips on how to ace your interview:
The interview process can be the most daunting step, especially for school leavers looking to secure their first job. With preparation playing a key part, Skills Jersey have plenty of useful pointers including before and during interview tips, a video and general interview questions to help you ace that job interview.
As the finance industry in Jersey keeps growing, it continues to make a very positive contribution to the future of island life. A great deal of hard work goes on within companies who want to work with the community on charitable initiatives for the island.
