UK Market Update

The private wealth sector is one of the founding pillars of Jersey’s 60-year-old finance industry. More than £600bn in trusts is managed by locally regulated trust company businesses, and we are home to the world’s largest branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

With a Brexit outcome on the horizon and as the private client community continues to work through the repercussions of one of the most catastrophic pandemics of this century, never before has the need for Jersey’s specialist experience and support been so apparent.

For family offices, the pandemic has served to sharpen the focus on the fundamentals required from IFCs – stability, reputation, expertise, legal certainty and connectivity – as UHNW and HNW families look to enhance their governance credentials and meet their principles-driven investment aspirations in the years ahead.

Jersey Finance’s activity over the past year has focussed on amplifying these fundamentals to the family office community in the UK, building a dedicated online hub of information. Similarly from a funds perspective, the UK remains our largest market and the no-change outlook, stability and respectability that Jersey offers has led to continued growth, and to a large extent business as usual, throughout the pandemic.
