Hive Hackers
At PwC we believe digital upskilling is a societal imperative and critical to equip the next generation for the rapidly evolving world of work. According to our recent report, Upskilling the Channel Islands workforce for a digital world, up to 30% of current jobs are at risk of disappearing due to the impact of technology between now and 2035. We believe a focus on digital upskilling is a critical issue for the Channel Islands. Hive Hackers is a school outreach programme pioneered by PwC Northern Ireland that we are rolling out across the Channel Islands. A small team will work with key stakeholders and schools across the islands to deliver tech skills learning in both classroom and virtual settings. The Channel Islands Hive Hackers initiative aims to inspire young people to pursue careers in technology, by offering interactive events and courses targeting a range of age groups.

The Role
We’re looking for someone who is interested in technology and getting young people excited and engaged with technology in new ways to join the Hive Hackers team. You will work and closely collaborate with the Jersey Hive Hackers Lead to develop and deliver the Hive Hackers programme in schools across Jersey.
● You will be responsible for delivering the Hive Hackers programme in Jersey alongside the Jersey Hive Academy Lead in both primary and secondary schools across Jersey. You will also work with PwC’s marketing team, our student recruitment team, and technologists to develop and deliver concepts for events to give young people a first-hand experience of tech-related work and inspire them to study tech subjects or choose a tech career.
● The right candidate will have an understanding of the requirements of the Jersey Education Curriculum and be able to weave this into the relevant areas. They must know how to operate in a school environment and will be an enthusiastic ambassador for technology generally and for tech careers at PwC.
● You will be the face of PwC with young people initially of primary school age, and will deliver educational applications alongside brand/technology awareness.
● You will be expected to run a number of technology focused training programs internally for PwC people across all our lines of service. This will be done in collaboration with the L&D team and our Tech & Innovation Leader.
● You will be working closely with the marketing team to help challenge and change PwC’s brand awareness in the technology space in the CI market. You will also work closely with PwC’s technologists to understand what they are focused on now, and in the future, to help ignite the interest of school pupils in careers in technology.

Initial priority focus areas will be:
● Delivering the Hive Hackers CI programme to primary schools in Jersey.
● Attending key events to gain support and increase awareness of the programme.
● Developing and updating materials and toolkits to teach teachers in schools.
● Support the delivery of more advanced tech learning internally to PwC staff.
● Identifying and collaborating with external relevant stakeholders to share content, and participate in technology-focused events and generally work effectively together.

Required & Desirable Skills
In order to apply you need to have the below skillset:
● Must have experience working with children and/or young people through teaching, youth projects, sports clubs, theatre schools or other group activities.
● An interest in technology and how it is transforming the ways in which we work.
● Be a strong team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm and in different islands.
● Be innovative, thinking differently and keen to learn new skills and technology.
● Be creative and have a passion for education.
● Have an aptitude for engaging young people, accounting for a range of ability levels and cultural backgrounds.
● Be a clear communicator, able to articulate clearly to a wide range of audiences.
● Have a driving licence and own transport (desirable).
