5 February 2021 – Following a raft of promotions in January 2021, VG has further strengthened its management team with an appointment and promotions of a VG veteran and rising star.

Joining VG from Intertrust, Christie Barette joins VG as a Manager within the wealth structuring team where she is responsible for providing technical support to the team to ensure the delivery of excellent client service and to uphold VG’s values to the highest standard. Christie has over 30 years’ experience managing structures for ultra-high net worth individuals, their families and family offices with a diverse range of asset classes including investment portfolios, commercial and residential real estate, and luxury assets.

Also, within the wealth structuring team, Ben Schofield has been promoted to Manager. Ben joined VG in 2014 and has over 12 years’ experience working on a diverse portfolio including corporate, debt, family office and high-net-worth private client wealth structures. Ben, named in the 2018 Eprivateclient Channel Islands ‘Top 35 Under 35’ list, commented on his third promotion since joining VG: “I really enjoy working within a business that recognises and rewards performance and whose core values allow me to progress and are aligned to my ambitions.  I am excited to be given this opportunity and feel that I am in the right place to continue my development.”

One of VG’s longest standing team members, Paul Bulstrode, has been appointed Manager (Real Estate and Islamic Finance – Funds). Paul joined VG in 1984 as a trainee bookkeeper / messenger and progressed into a variety of roles before becoming a founding member of VG’s funds team in the mid-1990s. Paul is now responsible for a portfolio of structures investing in global real estate and shariah-compliant based equities for long-standing clients; he is also responsible for management of the unregulated real estate team.

Congratulating the team members on their promotions Emma Stewart, Head of HR, commented: ‘We are always on the lookout for new talent; we’re delighted to welcome Christie and our recent new joiners to the business. As an employer it really is important to attract great talent, but of equal importance is to retain great talent so we adopt an agile approach to the progression of individuals – awarding and announcing promotions throughout the year as the occasion arises; both Ben and Paul are highly deserving of their new roles”.
