Jersey has for the second consecutive year won the award for ‘Best International Finance Centre’ at the WealthBriefing GCC Region Awards 2018, once again underlining its credentials as one of the world’s leading and forward-thinking international finance centres (IFCs).

Held at the Palace Downtown, Dubai, last week (7 November), the WealthBriefing GCC Region Awards are designed to set organisations and individuals apart from their peers, reward achievement and showcase those who have demonstrated top-class performance and innovation in the Gulf region throughout 2018.

Commenting on Jersey’s winning entry, the panel of judges said:

“The current geopolitical volatility highlights the need for wealth managers to identify stable financial jurisdictions as havens for portfolio development. The recipient of this award consistently impresses with the innovative nature of its offering in a competitive field.”

Jersey’s success at this year’s awards comes at an opportune time, with Jersey Finance having recently marked a new milestone and become the first IFC to set up an office in the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC) – a well-respected, dynamic and integrated business environment. This award and Jersey Finance’s recent move to the DIFC are both strong endorsements of the jurisdiction’s commitment to the Gulf region.

Geoff Cook, Chief Executive of Jersey Finance, commented:

“Jersey has a long and solid history in the Gulf region and, amidst increasing local and global regulation and compliance requirements, has been successful at promoting its credibility as a leading IFC of excellence. As such, we are proud to have been voted ‘Best International Finance Centre’ for the second year in a row and last week’s award, along with our new presence in the DIFC, is testament to our ongoing commitment to the region.”

ClearView Financial Media’s CEO, and Publisher of WealthBriefing, Stephen Harris, extended his congratulations to all the winners.

“The firms who triumphed in these awards are all worthy winners, and I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations. These awards recognise the very best operators in the private client industry, with ‘independence’, ‘integrity’ and ‘genuine insight’ the watchwords of the judging process - such that the awards truly reflect excellence in wealth management.”
