On Saturday 10 June 2023, the Vistra Jersey Kids’ Triathlon celebrated its tenth event by welcoming over five hundred children, aged 6-13 to Les Quennevais Sports and Leisure Centre in aid of Blood Cancer UK, Jersey Branch.

The event saw children of all abilities swim, cycle and run their way to the finish, with huge smile across their faces as they were awarded the special tenth anniversary medal. A real highpoint of the day was watching children encourage their friends over the finish line, demonstrating the non-competitive, supportive, and fun atmosphere which this event creates.

Organisers were delighted to award Les Landes Primary school with the Vistra Jersey Kids’ Triathlon School Shield, for the second time running. The school had over 40% of their students enter the event.

To cap off the hugely successful event, there was an outstanding fundraising effort from all the young triathletes, with our highest fundraiser, Beau Le Main, raising an incredible £1,245. The organisers are ecstatic that this years’ event has raised in the region of £20,000 for Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Branch, its highest amount to date. The money raised will help fund research into all blood cancers and treatments as well as go towards support for patients and their families.

Chris Rowland, Chairman of Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Branch commented “Once again I must say an enormous and heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped with the organisation of this unique event. To achieve 10 years of holding the Vistra / Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Kids Triathlon is amazing in itself, but the fact that it gets better and bigger each year is just fantastic. As always very special mention must be made of David Holmes who plots and plans the specifics for each age group of children. Also, to 3D Events whose team set up the whole arena and also handle the registrations and publicity.
Add to this the very generous sponsorship from Vistra, both financially and volunteering on the day and we of Blood Cancer UK – Jersey have the best team possible.

We have raised a record amount this year with the help of a very generous donation and of course every penny of the amount raised will go to the research of all blood cancers. After all, without research there can be no cure.”

Jonathan Ferrara, the Managing Director of Vistra, Channel Islands said: “Vistra was delighted to be able to sponsor the Jersey Kids Triathlon again this year and it was even more special being the 10th anniversary of this fantastic event. It is great to be able to raise money and awareness for Blood Cancer UK and our congratulations go out to all those children who took part and completed the challenge on the day.

These events only run smoothly due to the amazing work of so many people and so I would like to thank Christine and her team at the Jersey Branch of Blood Cancer UK, 3D Events, the Jersey Triathlon Club and all those who volunteered on the day.

We very much look forward to continuing our support of the Jersey Kids Triathlon in 2024.”

Organisers would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone who made this event possible. Thanks to Vistra and Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Branch for all your support; the wonderful volunteers and marshals who helped make the day an organised, safe, and enjoyable event; to Les Quennevais Sports Centre for their facilities and co-operation; and to all the parents/guardians who made the day possible. The children were kindly
supported by local sporting clubs; Jersey Swimming Club, Jersey Cycling Association Youth Academy, Jersey Park Run and the Aztec Jersey Tristars to guide and protect them through the three disciplines; swim, bike and run.

Organisers are excited to announce that the 2024 event is set to take place on Saturday 8 June 2024 at Les Quennevais Sports Centre and they are hoping to welcome even more children to this fantastic event.
