Walkers’ strategic growth in Jersey continues with the arrival of three more lawyers across its practice groups.

Senior associates Anouksha Patel (Private Capital & Trusts) and John Swani (Banking & Finance), and associate Paola Sequeria (Insolvency & Dispute Resolution) have joined the firm in the past month.

Their arrivals take the number of new arrivals in Walkers’ Jersey office to six since the start of the year – associates David Connell and Félim Ó Maolmhána joined the Banking & Finance team in February, and regulatory lawyer Amman Bulchandani joined the Investment Funds & Corporate team.

Walkers continues to invest in growing its European business – the firm’s London and Guernsey practices have moved to new, expanded premises in the past 12 months to accommodate the growth in both headcount and market share.

Last year, the Jersey and Guernsey businesses saw a combined 33 new joiners across all practice groups and business services teams.

Jonathan Heaney, the managing partner of Walkers’ Jersey office, said: “Continuing to grow our teams across practice groups demonstrates not just our confidence in the Jersey market, but also our growth in market share across legal disciplines.

“Our newest recruits bring with them a mix of onshore and offshore experience, and more importantly, they fit Walkers’ global ethos of delivering responsive service, clear commercial advice, and jurisdiction-relevant solutions.”

About the new team members:

Anouksha Patel has more than ten years’ experience as a private client lawyer in London, and is fully STEP qualified. She specialises in advising on complex private wealth structures, and is working towards qualification as an Association of Tax Technicians member.

John Swani advises of a full range of real estate finance, development finance, and corporate borrowing matters. He spent six years as an onshore finance lawyer before joining Walkers, and has experience of advising on sustainable finance and ESG loans.

Paola Sequeria joins Walkers from another offshore firm, and has experience of disputes under Jersey and BVI law. She advises on contentious trust matters, administrations and insolvencies, regulatory matters and general civil and commercial litigation.

Fraser Hern, the head of Walkers’ Channel Islands business, said: “We are delighted to welcome our newest colleagues to the firm as our growth across the European region continues. The ability to attract and retain talent is critical to maintaining our levels of client service as we grow our business, and the arrivals of Anouksha, John and Paola add expertise and bandwidth to our busy teams as we continue to go from strength to strength.”
