Wellbeing is the subjective state of health, happiness and prosperity. It includes having good mental health, high life satisfaction, a sense of purpose and the ability to handle stress. Bearing in mind we spend approximately 30% of our lives in the workplace, clearly it’s really important both from an employee and employer’s perspective that we create the right conditions and culture in which people are happy, can thrive and be productive.
At Digital Jersey our ambition is to foster a culture which attracts and keeps good people. We realise that the ‘sandwich generation’ is juggling work, childcare and often elderly relatives at the same time, whilst smart technology increasingly blurs the boundaries. We place a strong emphasis on flexible working by striving to ensure that the team has all the support, both technical and emotional, in order to achieve that much vaunted work-life balance.
We are fortunate that at Digital Jersey we have the luxury of a choice of modern and inspiring environments in which we are able to hot desk, our dedicated office at Forum 4, the Hub and DJX, not forgetting of course everyone’s recent de facto office – at home!
Technology has played a huge role in keeping morale up and the team together throughout the pandemic, utilising the Island’s fantastic connectivity, MS365 cloud technology and regular Teams and Zoom meetings.
We like to encourage staff to take regular exercise and there is a discounted gym membership scheme employees can sign up for . This has proven to be very popular and has helped to build relationships in the team socially, as colleagues often attend classes together. When gyms were forced to close, Digital Jersey was quick to partner with Move More Jersey to support the Soulgenic Wellbeing app being offered free to allow individuals to continue their workouts from home through remote wellness classes and tutorials.
