Demand for environmental, social and governance (ESG) funds grew sharply in 2020, particularly towards the end of the year, with research commissioned by Jersey Finance showing that the continued rise in sustainable finance, already worth around £30 trillion globally, is now regarded as critical to the future structure of the funds industry.
In Europe specifically, independent reports show that European ESG funds – which screen fund portfolios by green, ethical and other responsible investing standards – topped £1trn in total assets as of 31 December.
Against this backdrop, our ESG focused Funds Masterclass brought together an expert panel to consider each element of the ‘ESG’ conversation, discussing in turn the environmental, social, and governance considerations. They also examined how Jersey as a jurisdiction best caters to the needs of socially conscious investors.
