Jersey Finance is proud to partner with TMF Group (TMF) to host a private wealth-themed event in Shanghai. The event is led by Maria McDermott, our Business Development Consultant – Asia, Lilian Huang, Head of China and Taiwan Market at TMF, and Daniel Max, Head of Global Solutions at TMF.
The event will provide an overview of Jersey for wealth management, corporate services, investment funds and its connectivity to global markets, particularly in Asia. In addition, STEP’s Nicolas Zhai, will discuss some of the key takeaways from the recent STEP report sponsored by TMF, entitled ‘The Social and Economic Benefits of Trusts’.
As well as hearing insights into the private wealth sector in China and Jersey, guests will be able to network with other like-minded professionals over lunch.

Maria McDermott › Business Development Consultant – Asia, Jersey Finance

Maria is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and an associate member of the Chartered Governance Institute.
Born in Jersey, she has over twenty years’ experience working in the international finance industry and is experienced in investment funds, private wealth, compliance, risk management and project management.
She has been based in Asia for the last ten years having transferred to Hong Kong from Ogier Fiduciary Services Jersey to develop the fiduciary services business in Hong Kong. During her time in Asia she has also worked for various listed entities and financial service providers in Singapore and Shanghai, and is now based full time in Shanghai.
Prior to her time in Asia she spent over ten years working for a number of law firms and fiduciary service providers in Jersey.
Lilian Huang Head of China and Taiwan Market, TMF Group
Lilian Huang, Head of China and Taiwan Market, and a member of the APAC Executive Committee of TMF Group. TMF is a global leading corporate service provider with 10,000 experts and 125 offices crossing 86 jurisdictions worldwide serve financial institutions, corporates, asset managers, family offices. Before joining TMF Group, Lilian held numerous leadership roles at renowned financial services organizations, including JPMorgan Chase, GE Capital, Citigroup and SMBC. She has a track record of successfully leading financial service, banking business as well as corporate service in Greater China region. Lilian is also the Director of the Advisory Board of E-Youth, an NGO which supports the university students and entrepreneurial young generation by connecting leaders from business. Lilian holds a master’s degree in international business administration (IMBA) from Hong Kong University. She is also the senior mentor of Finance Industry as appointed by New York University (NYU) Shanghai.
Daniel Max Head of Global Solutions, TMF Group
Daniel is a member of the executive leadership team at TMF Group and is responsible for the services that TMF Group offers to its corporate, financial services and private clients. He leads the development of services, ensuring that TMF Group remains at the cutting edge when it comes to delivering compliance services to clients. He is widely involved with the numerous processes that optimise performance on our largest global accounts and is also directly responsible for the fund services practice. Previously, Daniel led Marsh's international client advisory services and its UK private equity practice. He has built a strong track record, delivering data, advisory and process solutions to corporate and financial services clients around the world.
Nicolas Zhai Head of China at the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP)
Head of China at the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Seasoned professional manager with extensive experience in corporate management, membership services, and business development. Holds a bachelor's degree from Fudan University and a master's degree from Sciences Po Paris. As a former Swire Management Trainee, gained broad exposure across various management roles within Swire Group's operations in Jakarta, Hong Kong, and Nanjing. Previously served as Director of Membership and Events at the China-Britain Business Council in Shanghai.
