World-leading AI commentator, Professor Nick Bostrom, confirmed to speak at both Jersey Finance flagship conferences in London this month.

Nick’s book, ‘Superintelligence’ has been praised by some of the most respected voices in technology and science and has been cited by the likes of Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk and Bill Gates in the debate over AI.

In just under one month’s time, Jersey Finance will welcome Nick alongside a host of experts from the private wealth and funds industries to address delegates at their flagship conferences in London on 24 and 25 April 2018.

Focussing on the funds sector set against a backdrop of major geopolitical shifts, and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology on private wealth, the conferences provide a vital source of Jersey-focussed information bringing together London and Jersey-based professionals.

On Tuesday 24 April, at ‘A Future Focus’ annual funds conference expert speakers will together examine what changes in the geopolitical landscape will mean for Jersey’s funds industry in relation to Britain and the EU, now and in the post-Brexit future.

Invest Europe CEO, Michael Collins, and CVC Capital Partners Partner, Marc St John, will be speaking at the funds conference. Michael guides the agenda-setting work of the world’s largest private capital association while Marc has assisted in raising more than $70 billion in equity capital while at CVC.

The following day, 25 April, ‘An Open World’ will explore how developments in AI and other technologies are affecting family office structures globally and across generations.

The private wealth event includes an interview with Jonathan Evans, former Head of MI5, who will offer clear insights and a wealth of knowledge on the rising threat of digital infiltration and the risk it poses to national security, infrastructure and the economy.

A range of expert speakers from Jersey Finance Member firms and partners will examine how family office structures are adapting to meet the needs of Generation X and Y; less face-to-face and more Facetime.

A second panel will look at trends in investor behaviours and wealth distribution, in particular, diversification and alternative asset classes, with a lively debate on the relative merits of ‘emotive’ assets such as classic cars, art and wine.

Geoff Cook, CEO Jersey Finance, explains why these conferences are important for Jersey’s financial services:

“Taking the Jersey message to London sets us apart as a forward-thinking IFC. London is a strong ally in both the funds and private wealth arenas, so it’s important that we work together to do this.

“London-based practitioners may be asking how Jersey differentiates itself through digital innovations and whether we are a future-proof jurisdiction despite Brexit. I am certain that our flagship conferences will provide clarity address these questions and more.”

Both events will be held at the award-winning venue, 8 Northumberland Avenue by Trafalgar Square in London. Delegates will have the opportunity to network, ask questions and interact with content at both conferences.
