Jersey Finance has been awarded a Jersey Good Business Charter after demonstrating and encouraging a strong and ethical business attitude within the workplace and in its work across the finance industry.
The Jersey Good Business Charter is a standard awarded to businesses in Jersey in recognition of their commitment to good corporate citizenship and responsible business practices in all that they do. The Charter aims to celebrate the Jersey business community as a force for good.
Jersey Finance has been awarded the status because of its ongoing work across the ‘five areas of good business’, as highlighted by the Jersey Good Business Charter – People, Community and Society, Supply Chain, Environment and Customer.
Jersey Finance continues to support local charities by arranging ‘charity days’ where staff spend the day helping a chosen cause – in 2018 staff painted the new Acorn building for JET and in 2019 renovated the garden at Eyecan.
In their assessment, the Jersey Good for Business Council was encouraged by Jersey Finance’s sincere efforts to contribute to other parts of Island life through charitable partnerships. In particular, the Council noted Jersey Finance’s commitment to a three-year strategic partnership with the Grace Crocker Foundation – a local charity that supports Jersey families with sick children, desperately needing treatment in the UK. The partnership sees Jersey Finance staff offering the Grace Crocker Foundation a wide range of practical skills, knowledge and expertise on a voluntary basis.
Internally, Jersey Finance have a wellbeing programme for staff which has included talks on mental health, nutrition, chiropractic and mindfulness, with meeting room space being made available for exercise classes for the staff. In addition, staff are encouraged to recycle materials in the office and are supportive of Plastic Free Jersey, discontinuing the use of plastic cutlery and straws in the office.

“I know that the Jersey Good Business Council have been examining applications with great seriousness and rigour, looking for strong evidence of credible commitment to the principles of good business in each of the five areas of the Charter. Jersey Finance’s commitment is clear and this has been recognised by our Council. We congratulate Jersey Finance on this achievement and encourage them to keep up their great work in the community – setting a great example for the sector that they represent.”
