January has been a milestone month for our careers and skills initiatives.

We launched a brand-new video, aimed at showcasing the finance industry in a new light to students and graduates looking for their next steps.

Working collaboratively with local finance firms we aimed to provide real-life insights into the world of finance.

We also gave the ‘Working in Finance’ section of our website a refresh. Including more up to date and relevant information, for those seeking out a career in finance. You might also recognise some familiar faces on these pages with a re-vamp of our testimonials.

Take a look at our new pages, and share with friends, family or colleagues who are interested in starting a career or progressing their career in finance.

Our biggest change to our working in finance pages are our new ‘Opportunities’ pages. These are a hub for school leavers, university students and career switchers to see current trainee schemes, work experience and internship opportunities available on island.

If you are a Jersey Finance Member firm and have an opportunity available, please complete our online form to add your opportunities to our website.

We’ve also been busy talking to local students with our Head of Marketing, Louise Burrows, attending a careers ‘speed-dating’ event at Jersey College for Girls, where previous students of the school came in to share their career journeys with current year 12 students. This great event provided insight into the options available for students either on the island or heading off to university before starting full-time work.

We had two events at Hautlieu School this month, one careers fair for all students to attend and an interactive morning session for students taking the Diploma in Financial Studies course in the sixth form.

Barclays and Quilter Cheviot provided interactive sessions to students, detailing what their role consists of and the opportunities within their sector.
